Introducing Fieldworks Insights

AEC has no shortage of digital tools. We have sophisticated systems for designing buildings, managing projects, coordinating information and running businesses. And yet some of the most persistent frustrations in our working lives are remarkably simple.
Information that's difficult to find. Knowledge spread across different places. Processes that have become more complicated over time. Software that isn't being used to its full potential. Systems that work well individually, but don't always work particularly well together.
Often these aren't big problems on their own. They're the small, everyday frustrations that gradually create friction in the way people work.
Those are the kinds of problems that interest us at Fieldworks. We look at how people, information, processes and digital systems fit together, where things aren't working as well as they could, and what might make them better.
Fieldworks Insights is where we'll explore some of the thinking behind that work. Some of these are technology questions. Many aren't. They're questions about information, knowledge, processes, behaviour and the small points of friction that affect how work gets done.
That's what Fieldworks Insights is here to explore: the everyday digital challenges facing AEC organisations, why they happen, and practical ways we might make things work better.
